Hi,
It's great to finally see this website improved!

Please join in to the Facebook group, as all of the members are actively interested in seeing the progress, and can offer help directly.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/139261686101247/

When you are using federal money, these are PUBLIC FUNDS and any organization who uses public funds needs to disclose how it gets used.
... There are lots of people in the facebook group who are happy to share ideas, so questions can be answered directly.

As i go through the list of other ICF Directors, these are unknown people, and we can't tell who is involved, so we can't talk to our local representative and get our questions answered.

Please use the free technology which is already available, and join in to the facebook group so everyone can help. It's much more practical than having an in-person open-house, as everyone has different schedules and this effects everyone on the Island.... we should not expect everyone interested in Victoria to go to Courtney just to be spoken AT ... and not actually talked WITH.
If The Harper Government sees that the people are interested, then there is more likely to get approval for funding, as well as if all of the local communities are aware that regional and local funding is needed, then they might be more accepting to allocating of funding.

I think what the ICF needs is another 3 car RDC set to supplement the one being rebuilt back east. I dont think one set will be enough to handle any future demand.

I absolutely do not understand why the light rail option is even being considered when we already have a transportation solution that simply needs some timely updating. The updating will take less money and time to bring into operation, than the light rail proposal. And without the divisive push-back from the retailers on the Douglas corridor.
We need a solution for the whole Island. The light rail system option only works for the lower Island. Victoria cannot exist long term in isolation. We need that connection with the communities on the other side of the Malahat. If we don't take that into consideration, and as the challenges faced by commuters travelling over the Malahat increase, Victoria will start to loose through isloation. Let's get the E&N back on the track!

I am very pleased to see them inspecting the trestles , i hope the Fedural goverment comes thruogh with there share of the money so the Bud Carss will be sent back to Vancouver island, and then rail will survive on this island for decades to come.

And if not then i guess theres nothing we can do aabout it, to me i hope that the line will reopen very soon because i went on the dayliner 4 times when i was a little kid I LOVED IT SO MUCCCH , i got to ride in the cab with the engineer it was a blast, and i want my friends or kids in the future to be able to do the same thing that i did when i was a little kid :)

I thankyou for uploading tjhe pictures of the trestle assesment project getting underway , hope to see thgat the line will be fixed up in a matter of time.

Hi- HOW CAN A LIGHT RAIL SYSTEM TO LANGFORD AND WESTERN COMMUNITIES BE PROPOSED AT A BILLION DOLLARS WHEN YOUR RAILWAY IS ALREADY THERE, OR DO THEY WANT TO USE THE ROADBED??
WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF US UP ISLAND THAT HAVE TO USE OUR CARS AS THERE IS NO SUITABLE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ANYMORE?
WHY NOT IMBED RAILS IN ONE LANE OF THE NEW BRIDGE REPLACING THE 'BLUE BRIDGE' TO LET THE VIA DAYLINER COME BACK INTO THE CITY? ONLY CLOSE WHEN NECESSARY.
WHO IS MAKING ALL OF THE DECISIONS TO CLOSE THE RAILWAY??? IS IT REALLY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, ARE THEY ABORTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY? WHY WAS THE RAILWAY TURNED OVER TO US BY THE CPR IN SUCH POOR SHAPE? PLEASE---WE NEED THE E&N RUNNING AGAIN!

Glad to hear that the inspection work has started, I hope it goes well and you find the structures to be in good condition.
I am planning a holiday to Canada but holding off until the line reopens. I look forward to hearing the good news of the restoration of this service.
Thanks for uploading the pictures of the inspection, it is interesting to see a little of how the work is done.

Oct.13/11.
The plan is good and solid, but I hope there is also an advertising plan to go with it. If people don't know about the new service when it starts, it could take a long time to get to a successful state.

Is there an example of an upgrade of a line to become a commuter rail operation like the one proposed for the E&N? One possible example comes to mind. The light rail route from Oceanside to Escondido CA.
Vehicles used on that line might be worth looking at. It would be very useful to be able to point to examples. It is not clear what sort of vehicles would be used here. If people could imagine the service, vehicles, stations, timetables, fares and more it might help gain support. For example what would the terminal look like in West Victoria? What facilities and connections would there be for onward travel? Ticketing? And at other stations.

Bc Rail Condustor/Brakeman James Doyle could be a follower of this one, both are writers and U grads. Rail and Fast High Speed rail with ports docks, and tunnel bridge man made island infrastructure is necessary for Bc and VanIsleDevelop-ment.
San Joaq... By Michael Doyle McClatchy Newspapers WASHINGTON - San Joaquin Valley officials from Stockton to Bakersfield are putting aside their competitive instincts this week to lobby Congress with one voice.
The Valley officials want federal funds for roads and rail. They want money for ports. They want streamlined environmental rules. They want a lot, at the very time a bitterly divided Congress seems inclined to offer less.
