Board Meeting Notes April 2015

Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting was held April 23rd at Nanaimo. The member representatives of the respective member First Nations and regional districts were presented with the 2014 Financial Statements by Dan Little and Cara Light of Hayes, Stewart, Little & Co. The complete financial statements are posted online.
There was also presentations by Scott Ritter the ICF solicitor, co-chairs Judith Sayers and Mary Ashley, Don McGregor of Southern Rail and Graham Bruce CEO. The unapproved minutes are posted.

Elected Board Members
Chief Michael Harry of Malahat Nation; Nanaimo Mayor Bill McKay – RDN; Councillor Albie Charlie – Cowichan Tribes; Ken McRae – ACRD and Ray Gauthier – Stz’uminus First Nation were elected as directors of the ICF. Mary Ashley a founding member of the ICF was elected director at large
Election of Officers
Nanaimo Mayor Bill McKay was elected ICF Chair for 2015. Director McKay’s assumption of the co-chair duties comes at a critical time for the railroad, the Port of Nanaimo and the City. Nanaimo will become the rail hub when passenger service resumes. Excursion rail tied in with the Port Authority could bring about an increase of cruise ships and overall tourism to Nanaimo and the Island.
Judith Sayers was elected vice-chair, John Berikoff was appointed treasurer and Graham Bruce – CEO was appointed Secretary.
Track Infrastructure Review
The provincial government is actively reviewing the track infrastructure plan as part of their due diligence before signing off the funding commitment.
